Layered Necklace

Choosing the right necklace length

When choosing the length of a necklace, it is important to consider a few factors:

  1. Neck size: Measure your neck to determine its circumference. This will help you choose a necklace length that will sit comfortably on your neck.
  2. Face shape: The length of the necklace can affect the way it looks on your face. For example, a longer necklace can elongate a round face, while a shorter necklace can flatter a square face.
  3. Neckline: The neckline of your outfit can also affect the length of necklace that looks best. A necklace that is too long or too short can clash with your outfit.
  4. Personal style: Ultimately, the length of the necklace you choose should reflect your personal style and preferences.

Here are some general guidelines for necklace length based on neck size:

  • For a neck size of 12-14 inches, a choker or collar necklace that sits high on the neck works best.
  • For a neck size of 16-18 inches, a princess necklace that sits at the collarbone is a good choice.
  • For a neck size of 20-24 inches, a matinee necklace that sits just above the bust is a flattering length.
  • For a neck size of 26 inches or more, a long necklace or opera necklace that falls below the bust works well.
